Icon only button

Am i missing something or is there no “icon only” button available?
Something like this:
<button class="button button-fill item-link"><i class="material-icons">home</i></button>

When i try this, the icon is not vertical centered. Just wondering if this is even possible.

Do you see any option to ahve the icon above the label. Just like with tabs where you can have an icon and text beneath !?
