Smart select - new item

Hello,

I have a smart-select (showing a list of items) working fine. However, I want to do two things:

  1. I want to add a ‘New’ button top right of the smart select to allow a new item to be added if the item searched is not in the select. When you click this ‘New’ button I want to go to a page /item/… then you fill in the new item details and then Save…and…

  2. When you save new item details on /item/ page then the previous smart select is scrolled back to with the newly created option selected.

Is this possible?!
